Sharing a file

Select a file and use the link button in the toolbar, or File → Copy Share Link.

Private buckets​

Choose how long the link should last: 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days. Seven days is B2's maximum.

The link goes straight to your clipboard. Anyone with it can download that file until it expires, without a key and without an account.

The expiry is recorded in the Activity Log, because when a link stops working is the one thing worth being able to look up later.

Public buckets​

A public bucket needs no authorization, so there is one Copy Link item and no expiry to choose. The link works for anyone until the bucket stops being public.

What gets authorized​

Each file is authorized by its exact name. Sharing two files creates two links, each of which unlocks only its own file.
